Pop Chart Lab

Pop Chart Lab is a Brooklyn-based company founded in 2010 that seeks to combine data with design. While working together at Penguin Books, founders Patrick Mulligan and Ben Gibson learned to appreciate all manner of data visualization, from tables and bar graphs in the books they worked on to PowerPoint pie charts. However, in a world inundated with infographics there was a distinct lack of fun. To solve this, Mulligan and Gibson combined their editorial, art, and design expertise to create order in chaos by categorizing the world into visually engaging charts. Each Pop Chart Lab product begins with a topic of interest and represents hundreds of hours of research and design. Now with a small team Pop Chart Lab assembles, sifts, culls, and arranges massive amounts of cultural data into meaningful works of art.
